Ways To Develop Healthy Business Relationships

Making friends with other businesses in your industry is a good way to stay in business. Sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming to develop these business relationships, but here are some ideas to get you started.

1.      Develop a business strategy to meet other companies in your industry who might be interested in developing a strategic alliance with your company. With this plan, think of the associates in your field and other individuals or companies in your business community who might be able to work with your company.

2.      Establish goals for your company and for your business relationships that are reachable and measurable, such as make five new business contacts in a certain amount of time, or obtain two new testimonials from satisfied customers or allied businesses, or contact three previous customers who have not returned to do business again with your company.

3.      Look for companies to ally with who offer complimentary products or services to your company, but not competing products or services. Establish a referral program with them, where you refer clients to their services, and they refer clients to your services.

4.      Become active in associations and communities in your industry. Whether you become active in online communities, or through workshops, committees, seminars, or other networks, maintain a presence in the areas that potential businesses associates will be.

5.      Share your knowledge of your product or your service. Sponsor presentations or training about your product or service, publish articles about your service or product, and become visible and recognizable as an expert in the industry.

6.      Reach out to other companies and provide testimonials or reviews of their services or products. Don't be afraid to ask other companies or satisfied customers for reviews or testimonials of your products and services. Testimonials and positive reviews add weight to the product that you are selling, and paint your company in a more reliable and established light.
