Accounts Receivable
As your small business develops and grows you will need to start an accounts receivable department within your business. Accounts receivable is setup within your business when you provide a service or product to a customer or client on credit. The service or product will be recorded and an invoice will be created. When the invoice is created, you will send it to your customer or client with a term of days that they must pay that invoice in. Once the invoice is paid off, the accounts receivable cycle has ended.
This process may seem easy and simple, yet at times the customer or client may not be able to pay the invoice in full. The customer or client may not be satisfied with the work that was completed and they may contest the charges that you have included on the invoice. Resolving the issue or the payment may take time. Stay in communication with your customers and clients to resolve the problems that are arising. Accepting monthly payments with interest fees and charges will allow your business to recover the costs that have already been spent for producing the product or service.
Some small businesses feel uncomfortable about running their own accounts receivable department. If you are one of those businesses, there are accounting firms that you can hire out to help and run your accounts receivable department. The accounting firm will complete the process of sending out invoices to your customers and clients and receiving the monies that are owed. The accounting firm that you hire will cost fees to your business, but will give your business the advantage collecting monies on time and without problems.
Help your business grow by allowing your customers and clients to purchase materials and products through your accounts receivable department that you have created.
